Textured Tights

3rd post is a row featuring colored tights... I know I'm over doing, but I love them. At least this purple pair is a little different in that they have texture & design. I love to pair colored tights with matching shoes. You may not be able tell in these pictures, but the tights & pumps are purple.

Vintage Floral

I just love this sort of vintage floral inspired print of this dress. It reminds me of the 80's & 90's. And of course, I styled it with green tights. I warned you that you'd be seeing more colored tights from me this season. Don't be surprised if you see more floral pieces too. I'm also loving florals.

Mustard Monochrome

I am so into colored tights right now. I don't know if it's currently trendy or not, but then I rarely follow current trends anyway. I'm pretty sure you'll be seeing more posts featuring colored tights.

I planned on wear these mustard yellow ones with a black & white dress, until I remembered that I thrifted this mustard yellow dress. So instead I paired the matching dress & tights with this tribal printed black & white jacket. I really like how it turned out.

1940's Inspired

I'm back after a long break. I think I had fashionista's block... kinda like writer's block. I just lost my inspiration and I wasn't wearing anything worth posting. We'll I think I got my mojo back! I had a fundraiser event at work. It was a 1940's film noir themed party. I rarely pass up an opportunity to play dress up, so I had to find something fabulous to wear. My outfit just kinda came together without much effort, from things I already had in my wardrobe. The only items I purchased were the gloves. I bought the shoes and the dress at a thrift store months earlier with the intention on wearing them "in real life". The dress is actually from the 80's, but you can't really tell from the way I styled it here. I already owned the fascinator and the fur stole was borrowed from my mom. I believe she thrifted it years ago. The party was a blast!

Scuba Knit Dress... Again

Do you remember the post I did with the scuba knit dress? See it here. Well, I went ahead and bought that same dress in 5 other colors! To avoid doing so many posts with the same dress, I decided to style 2 of them here. I chose the neon coral and bright pink. Maybe I'll wait 'til Fall/Winter to style the other 3 colors.

Dark-Skinned Girls Rock!

I was featured on Cherrie J's blog CherrieAmore this week. She has this awesome series called Dark-Skinned Girls Rock! It features dark-skinned women talking about fashion and their experience being dark-skinned. The purpose of the series is to "encourage dark-skinned women to embrace their beauty and gain self-confidence." I think the series is so smart and important! I am truly honored to be part of it. Check out my feature here and browse Cherrie's cool blog.

Mix-n-Match

Stripes and florals have quickly become my favorite way to mix prints. If you're new to mixing prints, you should try it. It's easy! Simply pick a striped piece and a floral piece with similar or complementary colors. Ya know what would make this outfit better... black & white polka dot shoes. Right?!

*Sorry for the grainy pics.

Scuba Knit

I was looking online for some inexpensive dresses that I could use as work wardrobe "fillers". I came across this dress on the Forever 21 website. I loved the shape of it and the price was right. The only thing that concerned me was the fabric. It is a scuba knit. I've never been in a scuba suit, but I can image it is tight and/or hot and weird to wear outside of water. I decided to tried it anyway and I'm so glad I did. I don't know if it is "real" scuba knit or whatever, but it is perfect for wearing year round. It is light enough to wear on a 85 degree day like today and thick enough to wear in cold weather. I can wear it the way I'm wearing it here, or with a cardigan or blazer over it, or with a blouse under it. I bought this dress in fuchsia as well. I am contemplating ordering it in black and coral (and maybe the blue and red). Is that overkill? Maybe? Maybe not. Anyway, don't be surprised if you see the other colors show up in future posts.
